Greeters
- Please dress in appropriate and modest attire – your “going to church” clothes. DO NOT wear shorts, t-shirts – tank tops, flip-flops, tight fitting or low-cut clothes or work pants. Be professional, but comfortable.
- Please arrive at the church at least 20 minutes before Mass begins.
- Know where the restrooms and drinking fountains are.
- Please try to greet people as they enter the church, greeting them by name, if possible. Use words like, “Hi, I’m happy to see you,” or, “Welcome, it’s good to see you.”
- The key here is the word, “HOSPITALITY.” Greet people as if you were greeting family members coming to visit you for the holidays. Remember to SMILE and make eye contact..
- Try to hand a hymnal to each adult entering the church.
- If you are asked a question, try your best to answer, or try to get the information to answer the question from someone who knows.
- Do not ask anyone, “Are you new?” or, “Is this your first time in our church?” No one enjoys being the “new person.”
- If someone indicates to you that they are new here, offer them a bulletin and ask them if they would like to sign our guest book, or meet with Deacon Mike after Mass.
- As people leave at the end of Mass, take up a station at an exit and hand a bulletin and a smile to each person departing.
